About
horoAstro: Vedic astrology from the classical texts
horoAstro makes your kundli free, from your date, time and place of birth, and reads it by the rules of the classical books of Jyotiṣa. Every line of the reading is a rule your chart meets, shown with its verse. It is made by IndiaSchool AI Private Limited, Bangalore.
4,047verses of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra, all 97 chapters
6,808ślokas keyed from 8 books of Jyotiṣa and 13 texts of the remedies
11,600+rules read from them, each a condition and its result
Not AI, not guesswork
Each rule of the books is checked against the chart; only the rules the chart meets are shown, each with its verse. Predictions are not made by AI: an AI model only puts the matched results into plain sentences, adding nothing and deciding nothing. Where the books give no rule, the page says so instead of filling the gap.
The books
Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra is the base: all 97 chapters and 4,047 verses, keyed from the printed Sanskrit and translated into English and Hindi by horoAstro. R. Santhanam's edition gives the verse numbers; the 1887 Jagadishwar Press edition of Bombay is read beside it.
| Book | What the reading takes from it |
|---|---|
| Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra | the whole reading: houses, lords, yogas, strength, daśās, remedies |
| Phaladīpikā | the transits (Gochar), careers and yogas |
| Jātaka Pārijāta | the transits, the birth star and the former birth |
| Praśna Mārga | the transits and their remedies |
| Muhūrta Chintāmaṇi | marriage matching (guṇa milan) and the Moon’s transits |
| Sarvārtha Chintāmaṇi | the houses, read beside Parāśara |
| Laghu Parāśarī | the yogas of the lords and their periods |
| Karma Vipāka Saṃhitā | the former birth, by the birth star’s quarter |
The remedies are written out from the texts the books send you to: Śukla Yajurveda, Ṛgveda, Śrī Sūkta, Ṛgveda Khilāni, Yājñavalkya Smṛti with the Mitākṣarā, Manusmṛti, Taittirīya Āraṇyaka, Matsya Purāṇa, Ṛgvidhāna, Śāntiratna, Āśvalāyana Gṛhya-pariśiṣṭa, Pāraskara Gṛhyasūtra, Tantrasamuccaya.
How your chart is computed
The planets are computed from NASA JPL's DE440 tables, sidereal, with the Lahiri ayanāṃśa. The divisional charts follow chapter 6 of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra. Places of birth come from GeoNames, villages included.
How the reading is made
- Each rule of the books is checked against the chart; only the rules the chart meets are shown, each with its verse.
- Where two verses disagree, the text’s own rules decide — the stronger doer (BPHS 27.38), a planet’s iṣṭa against its kaṣṭa (28.12) — and the deciding verse is shown.
- A result that has a time is placed in the period (daśā) of the planet that gives it (BPHS 33.96), at your own age.
- Where the books give no rule, the page says so instead of filling the gap.
What horoAstro does not do
- It does not sell remedies, gemstones or rituals. A remedy is shown only where a verse ties it to a condition in your chart.
- It does not tell of death or the span of life.
- It does not claim to be accurate or proven. Astrology is a matter of belief, not a science; horoAstro shows what the classical texts say and does not claim scientific accuracy.
