How the periods are found
Daśās are of many kinds; among them viṃśottarī is held the chief.

Good and bad periods
Whether a period is good depends on the planet that rules it: its place, its strength and its houses. Chapters 47 and 48 give the rules for the main period, chapters 52 to 60 for each sub-period. The reading shows a life-journey line of good (red) and difficult (black) stretches, built only from those verses.
More than one system
Chapter 46 also gives the Kālacakra, Cara and some twenty other daśā systems. All are computed; the Dasha screen shows them folded under the Viṃśottarī.

Questions
Can it predict a specific event on a specific date?
No. The text describes what a period tends to bring; it does not give dates of events, and horoAstro does not invent them.
My birth time is uncertain. Does it matter?
A few minutes can move the start of a sub-period by days. The life-journey view lets you shift the birth time and see the effect.
Is it free?
Your kundli and its divisional charts are free. Your periods — the one running now, the next ones with dates, and what each brings, read from its verses for your chart — are in the full reading, which is a plan for that kundli, a month or a year; the price, with any introductory offer, is shown on this page.
