From the 10th house (of the sky) is the examination of rule, 'ākāśa', livelihood, honour, the father, living abroad, and debts.

Chapter 24 gives the result of the lord of every house placed in every house. These are the twelve for the 10th. The text adds that results come in proportion to the planet's strength (24.145–148), and where one planet owns two houses whose results clash on the same matter, both are cancelled (24.146).
कर्मेशे लग्नगे जातो विद्वान् ख्यातो धनी कविः । बाल्ये रोगी सुखी पश्चाद् धनवृद्धिर्दिने दिने
With the 10th lord in the lagna, the native is learned, famous, wealthy and a poet; sickly in childhood, happy later; his wealth increases day by day.
दशमेश लग्न में हो तो जातक विद्वान, प्रसिद्ध, धनी और कवि होता है; बचपन में रोगी, बाद में सुखी; उसका धन दिन-प्रतिदिन बढ़ता है।
24.109राज्येशे धनभावस्थे धनवान् गुणसंयुतः । राजमान्यो वदान्यश्च पित्रादिसुखसंयुतः
With the 10th lord in the 2nd, one is wealthy, virtuous, honoured by the king, generous, and has happiness from father and others.
दशमेश द्वितीय में हो तो जातक धनवान, गुणवान, राजमान्य, उदार और पिता आदि के सुख से युक्त होता है।
24.110कर्मेशे सहजे जातो भ्रातृभृत्यसुखान्वितः । विक्रमी गुणसम्पन्नः वाग्मी सत्यरतो नरः
With the 10th lord in the 3rd, the native has happiness from brothers and servants; the man is valorous, virtuous, eloquent and devoted to truth.
दशमेश तृतीय में हो तो जातक भाई और सेवकों के सुख से युक्त; पराक्रमी, गुणसंपन्न, वाग्मी और सत्यनिष्ठ होता है।
24.111कर्मेशे सुखभावस्थे सुखी मातृहिते रतः । यान-भूमि-गृहाधीशो गुणवान् धनवानपि
With the 10th lord in the 4th, one is happy, devoted to his mother's welfare, lord of conveyances, lands and houses, virtuous and wealthy.
दशमेश चतुर्थ में हो तो जातक सुखी, माता के हित में रत, वाहन-भूमि-गृह का स्वामी, गुणवान और धनवान होता है।
24.112कर्मेशे सुतभावस्थे सर्वविद्यासमन्वितः । सर्वदा हर्षसंयुक्तो धनवान् पुत्रवानपि
With the 10th lord in the 5th, one has all learning, is always joyful, wealthy, and has sons.
दशमेश पंचम में हो तो जातक सर्वविद्या-संपन्न, सदा प्रसन्न, धनवान और पुत्रवान होता है।
24.113कर्मेशे रिपुभावस्थे पितृसौख्यविवर्जितः । चतुरोऽपि धनैर्हीनः शत्रुभिः परिपीडितः
With the 10th lord in the 6th, one is devoid of happiness from the father; though clever, without wealth, and harassed by enemies.
दशमेश षष्ठ में हो तो जातक पिता के सुख से रहित; चतुर होते हुए भी धनहीन और शत्रुओं से पीड़ित होता है।
24.114राज्येशे दारभावस्थे जातो दारसुखान्वितः । मनस्वी गुणवान् वाग्मी सत्यधर्मरतः सदा
With the 10th lord in the 7th, the native has happiness from his wife, is high-minded, virtuous, eloquent, and always devoted to truth and dharma.
दशमेश सप्तम में हो तो जातक पत्नी-सुख से युक्त, मनस्वी, गुणवान, वाग्मी और सदा सत्य-धर्म में रत होता है।
24.115कर्मेशे रन्ध्रभावस्थे कर्महीनो भवेन्नरः । दीर्घायुरप्यसौ जातः परनिन्दापरायणः
With the 10th lord in the 8th, the man is without work; that native is also long-lived and given to reviling others.
दशमेश अष्टम में हो तो मनुष्य कर्महीन होता है; वह जातक दीर्घायु भी होता है और पर-निंदा में तत्पर रहता है।
24.116राज्येशे भाग्यभे जातो राजा राजकुलोद्भवः । तत्समोऽन्यकुलोत्पन्नो धनपुत्रादिसंयुतः
With the 10th lord in the 9th, one born in a royal family becomes a king; one born in another family becomes equal to one; he has wealth, sons and the like.
दशमेश नवम में हो तो राजकुल में जन्मा जातक राजा होता है; अन्य कुल में जन्मा राजा-तुल्य होता है; वह धन, पुत्र आदि से युक्त होता है।
24.117कर्मेशे राज्यभावस्थे सर्वकर्मपटुः सुखी । विक्रमी सत्यवक्ता च गुरुभक्तिरतो नरः
With the 10th lord in the 10th, the man is skilful in all work, happy, valorous, truthful in speech and devoted to elders.
दशमेश दशम में हो तो मनुष्य सब कार्यों में कुशल, सुखी, पराक्रमी, सत्यवक्ता और गुरु-भक्त होता है।
24.118राज्येशे लाभभावस्थे जातो धनसुतान्वितः । हर्षवान् गुणवांश्चापि सत्यवक्ता सदा सुखी
With the 10th lord in the 11th, the native has wealth and sons, is joyful, virtuous, truthful in speech and always happy.
दशमेश एकादश में हो तो जातक धन और पुत्रों से युक्त, प्रसन्न, गुणवान, सत्यवक्ता और सदा सुखी होता है।
24.119राज्येशे व्ययभावस्थे तस्य राजगृहे व्ययः । शत्रुतोऽपि भयं नित्यं चतुरश्चापि चिन्तितः
With the 10th lord in the 12th, his expenditure is at the king's house (through the state); there is always fear from enemies too; though clever, he is worried.
दशमेश द्वादश में हो तो उसका व्यय राजगृह (राज्य) में होता है; शत्रुओं से भी सदा भय रहता है; चतुर होते हुए भी वह चिंतित रहता है।
24.120Now I tell you the results of the 10th house. Listen truly, O Maitreya, to what was told by Brahmā, Garga and others.

With the 10th lord strong and in its exaltation, its own aṃśa or its own sign, the native is rich in happiness from his father, famous, and a doer of good deeds.

If the 10th lord lacks strength, declare defects in work. With Rahu in a kendra or trikoṇa, one performs sacrifices such as the Jyotiṣṭoma.

With the 10th lord joined with a benefic and placed in a good place, there is always gain at the royal court and in trade; otherwise, the reverse.
