Privacy notice
Last updated 27 October 2026
horoAstro is built to India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025, ahead of the dates they come fully into force. We ask for your consent before we keep anything, we keep only what the app needs, and you can download or delete your data yourself, any time, from Account.
Who we are
horoAstro (horoastro.com) is run by IndiaSchool AI Pvt Ltd. Under the Act we are the Data Fiduciary for the data you give us. Write to us at hello@indiaschool.ai.
What we keep, and why
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your mobile number | To sign you in with a code on WhatsApp, to keep your kundlis and purchases together in one account, and to send you messages on WhatsApp (see below). |
| Your name, if you give it | To show on your account. It is optional. |
| The birth details you enter — name, date, time, place, and whether it is a woman's chart | To work out each kundli and keep it in your account so you can open it again. Family details are used only if you add them. |
| Your purchases — what you bought, the amount, the date and the payment reference | To unlock what you paid for and keep a record, as the tax and payment laws require. Card and UPI details are entered on PayU's page; we never see or store them. |
| Your language choice | To show the app in English or Hindi. |
| How the site is used — the pages and app screens opened, kundlis made, buttons such as “unlock”, the kind of device, the country, and the site that sent you there | To see what works and what does not, to fix problems, and to know whom to help. It is kept with a random id in our own cookie, and with your account once you sign in. Nobody outside horoAstro sees it. |
| WhatsApp messages between us | To answer you, and to send account messages (a payment receipt, your Gochar ending) and, now and then, news about horoAstro — at most two such messages a month. |
We do not run advertising, we do not sell or share your data, and there are no third-party trackers or advertising cookies. We use two kinds of cookie of our own: the ones that keep you signed in, and one random id (ha_vid) for the usage record above. The app also remembers your recent kundlis in your own browser, on your device.
Stopping WhatsApp messages. Reply STOP to any message from us and we send nothing more except your sign-in codes. Reply START to allow them again.
Your consent
We keep your data only after you agree to this notice when you sign in, and we record when you agreed and to which version. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account (Account → Your data → Delete my account) or by writing to us. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it.
Other people's details
A kundli is often made for someone else — a child, a parent, a partner for guṇa milan. Enter another adult's details only with their permission. For a child, you enter them as the parent or guardian. Accounts are for people aged 18 or over.
Who handles it for us
- Supabase — our database and the sign-in service.
- Vercel — the servers that run the site (Mumbai region), and a count of page visits without cookies.
- PayU — payments.
- WhatsApp (Meta) — delivery of your sign-in code and of our messages to you.
They act only on our instructions and only for these purposes.
How long we keep it
- Your account, name and kundlis: for as long as you keep your account. Your readings stay yours with no time limit. When you delete your account they are deleted.
- The usage record: 13 months, then deleted or made anonymous.
- Payment records: for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, even after you delete your account. They hold no birth details.
Your rights
- See your data — Account → Your data → Download my data gives you everything we hold, as one file.
- Correct it — change your name in Account; make a kundli again with the right details.
- Delete it — Account → Your data → Delete my account removes your kundlis, your name and your sign-in at once.
- Withdraw consent — the same as deleting, or write to us.
- Name someone to use these rights for you if you die or cannot act — write to us.
- Complain — write to our Grievance Officer below. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS). The database cannot be read from a browser; only our own server reaches it, and each account sees only its own kundlis. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
